Newly discovered Symantec affects Windows, Mac, and Linux.

symantec logoThere’s something to say about those who “over achieve” and/or go above and beyond. Symantec is one of those companies, though not in the way you’d usually expect. A new vulnerability has been discovered that not only affects Windows clients (the norm for anti-virus software) but Mac and Linux too.

Bonus: the Windows vulnerability goes all the way down to the kernel level, is easy to exploit, and in the end, can be incredibly damaging to your system.

While it’s rare and also not good that three separate platforms were simultaneously affected by this, the saving grace is that Symantec has already released a patch that a good chunk of users should already have patched and in place.

Good times.
