Microsoft to tease true cross-network play at GDC


There will be many things unveiled at the Game Developers Conference. The most exciting of which, however, will most likely be Microsoft’s announcement: true, cross-network play.

On the site, Director of ID@Xbox Chris Charla, teased that the company will announce true cross-platform and cross-network play. Xbox One to PC to Playstation hardware wise as well across multiple game networks (such as Xbox Live and Playstation Network). The barriers are coming down…finally.

It’s extremely important to stress that the compatibility between networks is being released by Microsoft, but individual game developers will need to integrate said tech into their products to fully function end to end. Here’s to hoping everyone can come together for the common good – you too, Sony.
