Neowin has scored some awesome info in the form of a couple pics and specs for an upcoming phone by Chinese manufacturer Elephone that will be a power user/techie’s dream. Specifically, the as of now unnamed phone will support dual booting between the latest version of Android and Windows 10 for phones. If you’re like us and constantly wanting to try different apps/things on different platforms and truly appreciate the pros that each platform is well at, such a combo is incredibly enticing. Adding to the luster is the fact that a U.S. release isn’t completely outside the realm of possibility. It also doesn’t hurt that on paper at least, it’s a flagship caliber device with specs such as an Intel CPU (dual booting version… Android-only version will ship with Mediatek processor), 4 GB of RAM, 5.5-inch 2k 2560 x 1440 display, 21-megapixel Sony IMX 230 and a fingerprint reader.
The launch date and firm price aren’t known yet for obvious reasons. At least on the software front, Microsoft has confirmed when Windows 10 for phones will officially drop so manufacturers can’t really go pinpointing anything specific for the general public either.
Neowin says the Android-only version is looking like it’ll ship sometime in May with the dual booting Android/WP version coming in ~June.
As long as the price is right, we’re game. Be still, beating hearts.
