Review: Proporta TurboCharger 1000 portable charger

Running low on juice while on the go? You could look for a wall outlet or USB port to plug into. But if you’re truly “on the go”, that’s not an option. Option 2: battery charger. They’re not always super portable though. Option 3: something super portable like Proporta’s new TurboCharger 1000.

What is it?

turbo1000-4It’s an ultra portable battery charger for emergency situations.

Why should you want it

With only 1,000 mAh of power on board, you’re not going to recharge your phone to 100%. Hell, you probably won’t make it past 30-40%. But there-in is the beauty. This ultra portable charger is barely thicker than a couple credit cards. See where we’re going with this…?

There are several products on the market that give you an emergency and portable charging cable in your wallet or pocket. But they’re still reliant on an external source of power entirely. The TurboCharger from Proporta has a battery cell built into the device itself.

Take note, however, that there is a special microUSB to microUSB cable provided. There-in is the only sticking point. If you lose that cable, you’re going to have to hunt around for another.

How to get it

It may be light on power capacity. But what it lacks in raw mAh rating it more than makes up for in portability. In honest emergencies when you just need another 10, 20…40 minutes on your phone, something like the TurboCharger is exactly what you want, and something that you can easily always have with you. $20 for an always there charger? Done.
