[Update: Fabricated] Sparrow For Windows Was In The Works Prior To Purchase By Google

Update

Apparently the so called “Sparrow for Windows” developer highlighted here fabricated a grand story; no official app was ever planned and the Sparrow guys and Mr. Tsimpoglou never actually “shook hands”. He was working on a Widows Sparrow clone, though. So there’s that. In the end, it still doesn’t matter as Sparrow as well as this Windows copycat are done.

We all know that Google just bought up the highly sought after mail client for Mac OS X and iOS. Those of us fed up with how mail.app has functioned in the past, and those wanting to have more of a social experience integrated into our email apps have flocked to the Sparrow experience. We all knew that an iPad app was probably in the works prior to the purchase, but who would of thought Outlook would be shaken up with the little airplane icon.

Almost a year ago, Panos Tsimpoglou decided it was time to help work on releasing the mail application for the Windows Desktop. After Skyping and meeting with the Din(cofounder, technical guy) the green light was giving to start coding.

The iPhone app was released, and the founders were getting their first glimpse into what would come to the Windows OS. A Beta version was supposed to be released to the public for testing, and it seemed like the app would soon become a reality.

With the news being released yesterday that Google had bought up the incredible and beautiful email app to integrate with the Gmail experience, those of us loving the app were left out to dry. And even more so, those that never even knew there was a Windows version coming are even further out.

Panos isn’t sure what will become of the app, the Beta app of a dead brand. Possibly releasing as an OpenSource project, rebranding and making it a different project all together. Who knows, but we certainly hope such a beautiful app makes it to such an ugly computing experience.

We leave you with 11 videos of where it started, and where it is at now…
